This is my second showreel, I filmed, edited and made the instrumental to accompany it too.

My first showreel

Reflection

When I was first given this task I was confused as to what to film, did it need a narrative? Do I just bang any random shots together? So I went out at around about 5.30pm, I chose a location next to the motorway (which is covenantally next to my house), set up my camera and tripod and begun filming. All of my shots were spontaneous and not pre-planned. Rather than recording everything I saw I look at the monitor to view what it looked like, then altered the white balance, shutter speed and tint and then decided if, aesthetically, it would be worth filming. I didn’t want too many shots that were similar because there was no narrative, I wanted each shot to be digested by the viewer individually. But, one thing I was keen on was making sure during the film you could tell it was getting darker. From it being light at the start of the film to the end where it is completely dark and the sun had set. The showreel was simple to film, I didn’t have any troubles with setting up the equipment. It was actually quite fun and relaxing to do, there was no guide like a script/screenplay to go by which made it fun and less demanding, plus it was a individual project which meant I did it how I wanted it to be done.

Showreel by Omar Dick, shot in and around Coventry city centre.
